How do offline charts work?

  2. Select your country or region.
  3. Tap Download to save base maps, airspaces, navaids, reporting points, and aerodrome details directly to your device.
  4. Once downloaded, the app functions completely in Airplane Mode.

How do I connect PilotCharts to a flight simulator?

PilotCharts can receive live telemetry from flight simulators over your local Wi-Fi network:

  • X-Plane: Enable UDP data output in X-Plane network settings to broadcast X-Plane Data (IP) or ForeFlight / GPS broadcast to port 49002 or 49000.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS): Use any standard broadcast utility (such as Flight Events or XMapsy) configured to output standard GPS/AHRS broadcast over your local network.

How are aeronautical charts and airspace NOTAMs updated?

Aeronautical vector data (airspaces, runways, frequencies, reporting points) is sourced from openAIP and official national AIPs. Live NOTAM and weather overlays are fetched from official aviation weather services (NOAA, DWD, RainViewer) when an internet connection is available, and automatically paused while offline.
